PRESS RELEASE

J & S Coffee House Artist Reception & Show

J & S Coffee located at 6th & Wakarusa is showcasing local artists through monthly art shows and artist receptions.  Recently they have been added to Final Fridays, expanding the Art walk to the west side of Lawrence.  Owner Steve Cramer hopes to encourage other businesses on the West side to support the local arts through monthly shows and meet the artists events.

J & S Coffee is hosting an Artists Reception this Friday, July 13th; 5:30-8pm.  Guests will have an opportunity to view a variety of artwork, meet the artists and enjoy delicious appetizer/desserts with coffee and sample the coffee houses smoothies.

This month three local artists are featured:

Patrick May started painting with oils when in junior high.  He likes to work with acrylics, water colors, colored pencil, oils and scratchboard.  He has done artwork by commission, including portraits, landscapes, and has even painted motorcycles alongside their owners.

Leta Strom of Backdoor Photos.  During her travels with her husband Steve, Leta utilized traditional and modern photographic techniques to create canvas pieces that capture the charm and distinctiveness of various locales in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.  It is Leta’s hope that as you view her photos, you may become lost in the enchanting appeal of these European spots.

Susan Theroff is primarily a self taught artist.  In her paintings she re-imagines myth and folklore within the framework of Nature with Trees and other creatures as sentient beings.  Many of our mythologies were created by early civilizations to give human form to the forces of nature to better understand and relate to them.  In her art she is seeking out the relationship between nature, mythology and women and what meaning or lessons it holds for us today.

  1. Thanks for your useful post. Through the years, I have been able to understand that the particular symptoms of mesothelioma cancer are caused by your build up of fluid between your lining in the lung and the upper body cavity. The condition may start within the chest place and spread to other parts of the body. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include fat loss, severe inhaling and exhaling trouble, a fever, difficulty swallowing, and inflammation of the neck and face areas. It needs to be noted that some people living with the disease tend not to experience any kind of serious indications at all.
