A new kind of business has opened up in downtown Lawrence – a private tranquil garden with a mineral bath hot tub and near infrared sauna, available for reservation for just one person or for groups of up to 5.

Mud & Lotus is a sister business to Lawrence Acupuncture, and the owner Shannon Spann-Ryan wanted to bring an aspect of her adventures on the West Coast to the midwest. “I am a Kansas native, but when I lived in California I fell in love with hot springs. The combination of mineral water, being immersed in nature, and the heat to soothe my muscles was magical – I found it to be an incredibly healing experience and wanted to bring my own version to downtown Lawrence.”  Shannon is passionate about providing natural solutions for pain relief and healing a multitude of common health issues like fertility, digestive issues, allergies, neck, shoulder and back pain, and more – using a combination of acupuncture, massage, nutrition and herbs, and the new offering of the hot tub and sauna.
