Advisors Excel’s Team Neuman delivers more than $18,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lawrence

Topeka, Kansas, April 9, 2019 — Matt Neuman, Vice President of Advisor Development at Advisors Excel, and his team of financial professionals and staff recently presented a $18,251 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lawrence to help support their Project Learn program.

For the past 6 years, Neuman’s team has conducted a NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket fundraiser called “Matt’s Madness,” raising funds for various local not-for-profits. To date, over $62,000 has been raised during Matt’s Madness.

“For years, the Boys & Girls Club has faithfully served Lawrence. We chose them as our 2019 NCAA Charity Challenge partner to first recognize their hard work and second to provide additional opportunities for all the youth they serve,” said Neuman. “They’re such a valuable organization in our community and we’re proud of the work Colby Wilson and his entire team continue to do.”

Project Learn provides fourth and fifth grade Club members with the opportunity to learn about the core-four subjects: math, reading, science and social studies in a fun and challenging way. The funds from Matt’s Madness challenge will go a long way in helping the quality and longevity of the program and will open new doors to technology advancement, access to college-prep courses and continued ways to make learning fun.

“We are honored that Matt chose the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence as this year’s recipient of the “Matt’s Madness” funds,” said Colby Wilson, CEO Boys & Girls Clubs of Lawrence.  “Matt, his family and Advisors Excel have been involved with our mission for years. They donate, they volunteer, and they truly care about serving youth in our community.  Thank you to all the Advisors Excel donors who collectively contributed $18,200 in support of our Project Learn program. Research shows that students do much better in school when they spend their non-school hours engaged in fun, but academically beneficial, activities. Through Project Learn, Club staff use all the areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for these high-yield learning activities, which include leisure reading, writing activities, discussions with knowledgeable adults, helping others, homework help and tutoring and games like Scrabble that develop young people’s cognitive skills. Project Learn also emphasizes parent involvement and collaboration between Club and school professionals as critical factors in creating the best after-school learning environment for Club members.  These funds will help keep Project Learn going at 15 sites for over 1,500 Club members on daily basis.”
