Grandstand Provides Brand New Coats to BGCLK Children

LAWRENCE, KS – This winter, 60 Douglas County children received brand-new winter coats courtesy of Grandstand’s Community Involvement Committee. Grandstand partnered with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing warmth, confidence and hope for children in need through the gift of brand-new winter coats. The collaborative, community-based program has impact far beyond the Lawrence area. Operation Warm programs across the USA & Canada are bringing this initiative to the communities in which they work and live.

 

This January, Grandstand provided Operation Warm coats to children at Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence.

 

“Youth programs and organizations like Boys & Girls Club are really dear to us,” said Emily Taylor, Grandstand’s Marketing Project Manager and Community Involvement Committee Chair. “We’re so appreciative of what they do for young people in our community and it’s truly a privilege to invest in the program and its kids.”

 

Grandstand invited Boys & Girls Club kids to take a field trip to Grandstand, where company volunteers personally helped fit each child with a brand-new coat and helped them to write their name in the interior tag which reads, “Made Just for You.” The event took place in Grandstand’s gym, where kids got to pick out their very own coat from a variety of colors, and then enjoy playing and shooting baskets.

 

“What a grand way to end the week! We even got to take some extra coats with us in case someone couldn’t make it to the field trip,” said Alissa Bauer, Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Director of Marketing and Communications. “An act of kindness for those who need us most. We are eternally grateful.”

 

Financial support from Grandstand’s Community Involvement Committee made giving the gift of warmth to these children possible.

 

Grandstand plans to continue their partnership with Operation Warm throughout the month and donate 70 more coats to children within other local organizations.
