Fifth Annual Foundation Awards Celebrating
Local Businesses Adding Jobs
With featured speaker, former Google VP, Brian McClendon and Former Voice of the Jayhawks, Bob Davis as Master of Ceremonies
Lawrence, KS – Celebrating Five Years, the Fifth Annual Lawrence Business Magazine and CadreLawrence Foundation Awards, recognize locally owned and franchised businesses, located in Douglas County that have been in business for a minimum of 3 years and have shown growth in employment by 20% or added 20 new employees from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017. In five years the awards will have honored 53 companies for creating 487 local jobs.

Returning for his second year as Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Former Voice of the Jayhawks, Bob Davis.
Lawrence native, University of Kansas Research Professor and former Google Vice President of Engineering, Brian A. McClendon, will be the presenting speaker for the evening. McClendon co-founded the startup which became Google Earth and famously made his hometown of Lawrence, Kansas the centerpoint of the Google Earth globe. He built the teams and programs behind Google Earth, Google Maps, Streetview, and Ground Truth, which revolutionized both mapping and the application of satellite and aerial imagery.

One of the honorees will also be presented with the 2018 Footprint Impact Award in recognition of their dedication and business focus on creating a strong local footprint with collaboration and reinvestment in the local community.
