LMH Endowment Association celebrates partnerships at 49th annual meeting
The Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association (LMHEA) will host its 49th annual meeting at 4:30 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Maceli’s Banquet Hall, 1031 New Hampshire St., Lawrence.
“The theme for this year’s annual LMHEA meeting is ‘Together, we…,’ a nod to the collaborative and fruitful partnerships created when donors support our community hospital,” said Rebecca Smith, the association’s executive director. “Each gift made in support of Lawrence Memorial Hospital is an investment in our community, and our donors are catalysts in improving health and well-being for our family, friends and neighbors. We are excited to celebrate everything their support has made possible.”
LMH President & CEO Russ Johnson will share his vision for LMH at the annual meeting. “I love hearing the stories of why donors choose to support LMH,” Johnson said. “So many speak of their commitment to our community, and they have an expectation that our hospital is just as good — if not better — than any. This is certainly my vision for LMH, and our donors help make this a reality every day. We are truly grateful for this partnership.”
The annual meeting will provide an opportunity to recognize outgoing and incoming LMHEA board members and leaders, as well as the 2017 recipients of the LMHEA’s top honor, the Elizabeth Watkins Community Caring Award. The Watkins Award is named for Elizabeth Miller Watkins, one of Lawrence’s most significant philanthropists. It honors those who, like Watkins, have provided extraordinary support to LMH.
This year’s Watkins Award recipients are William H. Coil, Dana and Sue Anderson, Monte and Kay Johnson and Bill and Carolie Hougland; Capitol Federal Foundation and the Sunderland Foundation; LMH associates Cory Wapp and Marla Potter; and the LMH Auxiliary.
“The path to a healthier future is paved with the compassion and generosity of our community,” said Jason Hoover, the association’s board president. “We are thrilled to collaborate with LMH, and we are committed to maintaining a healthy endowment in order to ensure long-term growth and stability for generations to come.”
The event is open to the public. RSVP by Feb. 16 to Amy Addington at amy.addington@lmh.org or 785-505-5621.
