The Chamber hires Mary McKenzie as Director of Operations

Lawrence, Kan. – Mary McKenzie will join The Chamber’s staff as its Director of Operations. McKenzie will be responsible for the day-to-day internal operations of The Chamber, including financial management, accounting, and human resources. She will provide assistance to Chamber committees and will support President & CEO Bonnie Lowe in an advisory capacity for internal operations.

“I’m so excited to work with the fabulous Chamber staff in the city that I love,” said McKenzie. “While I’ve been involved with local organizations, working for The Chamber is a great way for me to reconnect with the Lawrence business community and I can’t wait to get started. I have always had great respect for The Chamber and the work that they do in our community.”

Before her role at The Chamber, McKenzie worked as the Director of Human Resources at Massman Construction Co. in Overland Park. A long-time resident of Lawrence, McKenzie spent over a decade at Douglas County Bank as the Human Resources Director and Assistant Vice President. McKenzie is actively involved in the Lawrence community as a member of the Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club and the Jayhawk Chapter of SHRM.

“Mary has the ideal experience to lead The Chamber’s inner workings and we are thrilled to have her return to working in Lawrence,” said Bonnie Lowe, President & CEO of The Chamber. “Mary is a great addition to our professional staff. Her expertise and leadership will help The Chamber run smoothly and efficiently.”

McKenzie will begin her duties at The Chamber on March 20.
