Lawrence Schools Foundation to Celebrate 35 Years with $35,000 in Legacy Awards

Nominations Now Open for Legacy Awards

The Lawrence Schools Foundation turns 35 this year and to celebrate, the organization will continue to give back to students, educators, and staff of Lawrence Public Schools. A new program, 35 Gifts of Gratitude – Celebrating 35 Years, is an opportunity for the foundation to present 35 individuals with a legacy award of $1,000 to be donated in their name to a Lawrence Public Schools program, club, fund, or area of their choosing.

“We are so excited to be able to recognize the legacy of our organization by honoring individuals who have impacted our local schools in a meaningful way,” said Dena Johnston, executive director of the Lawrence Schools Foundation. “These gifts will continue our mission to inspire learning, enrich teaching and enhance opportunities for students, educators and staff.”

The Legacy Award is meant to identify, support and celebrate individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and who have contributed significantly to our local schools and the Lawrence community. Nominations will be accepted and awards will be presented over the coming months.

“It will be great to see all the areas that our Legacy Award recipients choose across the district,” said Lindsey Slater, President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “This is a special celebration to commemorate 35 years of supporting Lawrence schools and we are thrilled to be able to give back in this way.”

Nominations are open now and available at lawrenceschoolsfoundation.org.
